              Onam is a time to show off our vast and rich cultural heritage. It is one of the biggest festivals celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state, by people of all communities.

          The Onam celebrations of our S. K. P. S family was held on 6th September 2019, amidst great cheer and happiness. S. K. P. S School witnessed a mass participation of students in all programmes as never before.

           Our grand Onam celebrations were commenced with the “Onapookalam Competition “. The floral carpet competition had participation from all the four houses, competing for the most cherished prizes. The competition got underway at 8.30a.m. as planned, and each of the houses made astonishing designs, bringing out their creative talents. The floral carpet competition went of till 10.30 a.m. and the results were announced at 2.30 p.m. The other major attractions of the S. K. P. S Onam celebrations were the variety of Earth shattering games such as pillow fighting, cup and ball game, peanut and straw game, frog jumping, tug of war etc.

              The celebrations reached its helm when ‘Mega Thiruvathira‘ and ‘Teacher’s Thiruvathira‘ entered on the school ground. Most of the teachers and a large number of students took part in it, as it rocked the floors of S. K. P. S.

              The ‘Tug of War‘ or the vadamvali contest took place between the four houses. It was a fine success, as the students fought to the cheer of the audience, and each shouted tightening their grips on the rope and making it harder for the other team.A massive ‘onasadhya’ was served to the entire staffs of the school. The sumptuous onam feast was enjoyed by all.

                  In the afternoon session, the official meeting took place. It was presided over by Rev. Fr. Biju Thazathecheruvil OSB. The gathering was welcomed by Kumari Arathy Reji, Kumari Nandhana Sinil and Kumari Kareena Mary John. The chief guest of the function was Rev.Fr. Boby Pannoorayil OSB (Vicar General, Vallambrosan Benedictine Congregation).His inspiring talk about the relevance of Onam festival in this present scenario stimulated the audience. Then our special guest, the very popular mini screen artist Miss Akhina Shibu inaugurated the function.After that our beloved manager Rev. Fr. Tomy Thervalakattayil OSB came up with Onam wishes. Finally Master Aben Devasya expressed the vote of thanks. Various cultural programmes got underway after the official meeting.

On concluding the report we express our praise to the Almighty for his blessings which guided us in the successful co-ordination of the event.
